Exc 1: There are some examples of the beat and the
duration of the note.
Exc 2: To get a tighter palm mute, move your hand
slightly toward the neck of the guitar so your palm
covers more of the string.
Exc 3: Sometimes chords are muted also.
Exc 4: Accenting Chords, this is a long excercise, you
should play strong un-muted chords.
Exc 5: Syncopations and Upbeat, when a note which
falls between beats is accented and held over the
following beat, the natural pulse is ditsurbed. Only use
down picking.
Exc 6: This excercise use syncopation and upbeat
accents. Try playing them, making sure that you are
tapping your foot with the beat, not with the accents.
Use down picking.
Exc 7: This excersice also uses syncopations. Make
sure you are feeling the downbeats consistenly. Only
use down picking.
Exc 8: Shifting Accents, constantly shifting the chord
accents between downbeats and upbeats is a trash
and speed metal staple. Use down picking.
Exc 9: Here, the mutes are played with downstrokes
(>) while the accented chords are played with
upstrokes (<).
