Notenblatt mit der Aufschrift "A Londonderry Air". Air
heißt Melodie und Londonderry ist eine Stadt in Irland.
Diese "Melodie aus Londonderry" ist inzwischen mit
meherern Textversionen um die Welt gegangen. In
den USA war sie unter dem Titel "Danny Boy" seit
1920 mehrmals in den Hitparaden und auch
Jazzmusiker fühlten sich davon inspriert. In der
Californischen Stadt Carmel ertönt die Melodie als
Glockenspiel auf dem Marktplatz. Wie kaum einem
anderen Stück empfinden hier offenbar viele
Menschen den Zauber unvergänglicher Schönheit.
